At Donal McArdle Car Sales we have all the experience and tooling necessary to replace the timing chain on BMWs N47 2.0 Diesel engine.

The BMW diesel engine N47D20A (aka N47) produced during 2007, 2008 & 2009 suffers a problem affecting the timing chain. The timing chains are very weak and stretch over time, causing them to snap. This has affected models accross the 1 Series, 3 Series and 5 Series.

The specific BMW models with engine code : N47 / N47D20A are detailed in the table below.

We use genuine parts direct from Germany with new timing chains, new camshaft gears, new chain tensioner, new upgraded guides, new crankshaft seals, and all new gaskets being installed.

While the work is being carried out we would recommend a full engine service including oil, air and fuel filters along with BMW long life oil.
